Villamizar's Worm Salamander (original publication; Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: xxxi). 

Salamandra Gusano de Villamizar (Spanish: Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: xxxi).

Distribution

Known from the type locality (Quinshull, Chical, provincia de Carchi, extreme northwestern Ecuador, 921 m elevation); Gorgona I., Colombia; possibly into adjacent mainland southwestern Colombia.

Comment

The authors of the original publication noted a possible unnamed species, Oedipina aff. villamizariorum from Padre Santo, Playa de Oro, Esmeraldas, Ecuador.  Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 855, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map). Saldarriaga-Gómez, Acosta-Peña, Pardo, Alarcón-Naforo, and Betancourt, 2025, Check List, 21: 515–533, reported the species from Gorgona National Natural Park located in Guapi Municipality, Cauca department, Colombia. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: 367–369, provided an account, with photographs, which summarized identification, morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
