Comment

Sparreboom, 2014, Salamanders Old World: 275–277, reviewed the biology, characteristics, distribution, reproduction, and conservation of the species, presumably in the sense of including Pachytriton xanthospilos in synonymy. Wu and Murphy, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 92: 108–117, reported on the phylogenetics and status of the members of the Pachytriton brevipes group, and removed Pachytriton xanthospilos from the synonymy of Pachytriton changi, based on a discussion of the morphometrics and genetic distances involved in the earlier arrangement. Fei and Ye, 2016, Amph. China, 1: 330–333, provided an account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 464–465, provided an account, summarizing systematics and distribution.
