Comment

The sister taxon of Tylototriton hainanensis, in the Tylototriton asperrimus group, and previously confused with Tylototriton asperrimus according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 282–284, provided an account, suggesting that the population of Tylototriton asperrimus in adjacent southeastern Guangxi probably is of this species, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
