Distribution
Known only from Pauna (Boyacá), Fusagasugá, Supatá, and Tena (Cundinamarca), Bolívar, El Carmen de Chucurí, Gámbita, and Virolín (Santander), 1700–2200 m elevation on the western slopes of the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia.

Comment
Previously confused with Caecilia corpulenta, Caecilia degenerata, and Caecilia thompsoni according to the original publication. Fernández-Roldán and Lynch, 2024, Herpetol. Bull., London, 168: 15–17, provided notes on natural history and morphology.
