Distribution

Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Amazonian Peru, southeastern Brazil, and Guiyana; possibly into Bolivia. 

Comment

Lahanas and Savage, 1992, Copeia, 1992: 703-708, supplied a key to the species. See comment under Caecilia. Wilkinson and Nussbaum, 2006, In Exbrayat (ed.), Reprod. Biol. Phylog. Gymnophiona: 39–78 [67–68], diagnosed the taxon. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583 (see comment in Amphibia record) on the basis of molecular evidence suggested that Oscaecilia is imbedded within a paraphyletic CaeciliaKöhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 34–35, provided a brief summary of natural history, a key to the species of Central America, and range maps and photographs of the species.
