Distribution
Pacific and Amazonian slopes of the Andes in Ecuador (Imbabura, Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, and Loja provinces) and Peru as well as Valle del Cauca, Colombia, 670 to 2070 m elevation.

Lynch, 2000 "1999", Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 23: 331, commented on distribution. Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 335–336, discussed an Ecuadorian specimen. Cisneros-Heredia, 2004, Herpetozoa, Wien, 17: 194–195, provided records for Ecuador. Arteaga-Navarro, Bustamante, and Guayasamin, 2013, Amph. Rept. Mindo: 122–123, provided an account and dot map for Ecuador. Müller, 2020, Neotropical Biodiversity, 6: 98–108, reported on larval development. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: 344–345, provided an account, with photographs, which summarized identification, morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
