22 January 2015: Added Limnonectes deinodon (Dicroglossidae) from peninsular Malaysia and, likely, adjacent Thailand, named by Dehling, 2014, Sauria, Berlin, 36: 17–30, from Gunung Lawit, Terengganu State, Malaysia. This is a member of the Limnonectes kuhlii group, previously confused with Limnonectes khasianus (or its synonym Limnonectes laticeps). Recognition of this species isolates records of nominal Limnonectes khasianus on Sumatra far from those on the mainland.
22 January 2015: Added citations to comments under the Adenomus (Bufonidae) record and both species, Adenomus kandianus and Adenomus kelaartii, extending from the revison of the genus by Meegaskumbura, Senevirathne, Wijayathilaka, Jayawardena, Bandara, Manamendra-Arachchi, and Pethiyagoda, 2015, Zootaxa, 3911: 245–261, and synonymy of Adenomus dasi with Adenomus kandianus.
15 January 2015: Added a number of citations in relevant comments extending from the report on the comparative chondricranial and hyobranchial larval morphology among Rhinella abei, Rhinella crucifer, Rhinella granulosa, Rhinella henseli, Rhinella hoogmoedi, Rhinella icterica, Rhinella jimi, Rhinella ornata, Rhinella pombali, Rhinella pygmaea, and Rhinella schneideri (Bufonidae) by Oliveira, Weber, and Napoli, 2014, Herpetol. J., 24: 229–236.
14 January 2015: Added comments to the Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis and Euphlyctis mudigere (Dicroglossidae) records extending from the study by Khajeh, Mohammadi, Ghorbani, Meshkani, Rastegar-Pouyani, and Torkamanzehi, 2014, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 9: 159–166, who reported on mtDNA differentiation across the range of Euphlyctis from southeastern Iran to Pakistan to South India and Sri Lanka and suggested that populations of nominal Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis in South India and Sri Lanka should likely be referred to Eyphlyctis mudigere.
14 January 2015: Added a comment regarding the study of landscape genetics of Rhyacotriton variegatus (Rhyacotritonidae) reported by Emel and Storfer, 2015, Conserv. Genetics, 16: 209–221.
14 January 2015: Added a comment extending from the third in a series of papers (Reilly and Wake, 2015, J. Biogeograph., 42: 280–291) concurring with their earlier papers about lineage recognition (although including new information on biogeography) and that by Rissler and Apodaca, 2007, Syst. Biol., 56: 924–942. Surprisingly, species are delimited but no taxonomic remedy is taken, nearly 8 years after the initial discoveries were made. Regardless, on the basis of the paper by Rissler and Apodoca (2007) and their statement that they intended to formulate a taxonomy in another paper I attached the available names to three of the lineages: Aneides flavipunctatus, Aneides iecanus, and Aneides niger. More will need to be named.
14 January 2015: Added relevant comments extending from the study by Díaz-Rodríguez, Gonçalves, Sequeira, Sousa-Neves, Tejedo, Ferrand de Almeida, and Martínez-Solano, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 83: 224–241, who reported on molecular phylogeography within nominal Pelodytes punctatus and reported four lineages which they regarded as candidate species. Their geographic ranges are: a) the western Iberian Peninsula, along the Atlantic coast and part of central Portugal; b) central and eastern Spain; and (c) northeastern Spain to northwestern France; and d) southeastern France and northwestern Italy. The authors confirmed that these four lineages taken together are the sister taxon of Pelodytes ibericus.
14 January 2015: Added a comment extending from the work of Zhou, Zhang, Zheng, Yu, and Yang, 2009, Gene, 447: 86–96, who reported on the complete mtDNA genome of Paa spinosa (Dicroglossidae).
14 January 2015: Added a comment extending from the work of Yu, Zhang, and Zheng, 2012, Mitochondrial DNA, 23: 423–425, who reported on the complete mtDNA genome of Babina adenopleura (Ranidae).
14 January 2015: Added a citation to the comment under Hoplobatrachus rugulosus (Dicroglossidae) extending from Yu, Zhang, and Zheng, 2012, Mitochondrial DNA, 23: 336–337, who reported on the complete mtDNA genome of this species.

13 January 2015: Added several comments extending from the report on the herpetofauna of the Yécora region of eastern Sonora into Chihuahua by Enderson, Van Devender, and Bezy, 2014, Check List, 10: 913–926. Of particular interest are comments on life history of Eleutherodactylus interorbitalis (Eleutherodactylidae), the sympatry of Craugastor tarahumaraensis and Craugastor augusti (Craugastoridae) and comments on systematics regarding Lithobates magnaocularis and Lithobates yavapaiensis as well as Lithobates lemosespinali and Lithobates chiricahuensis (Ranidae).
13 January 2015: Added Microcaecilia butantan (Siphonopidae) named by Wilkinson, Antoniazzi, and Jared, 2015, Zootaxa, 3905: 425–431, from Pará, Brazil.
12 January 2015: Added a number of citations to comments in Pacific Basin frogs extending from the brief accounts provided by Zug, 2013, Rept. Amph. Pacific Is.
10 January 2015: Added a citation extending from the study of landscape genetics and potential range modeling of Pseudoeurycea leprosa (Plethodontidae) in the Trans-volcanic Belt of Mexico by Velo-Antón, Parra, Parra-Olea, and Zamudio, 2013, Mol. Ecol., 22: 3261–3278.
10 January 2015: Added a citation regarding records of Eleutherodactylus planirostris (Eleutherodactylidae) from Honduras by Solis, Darinel Lainez, and Bardales Salmeron, 2014, Mesoam. Herpetol., 1: 292.
9 January 2015: Insert citations into relevant comments and adjusted range statements extending from the work by Rivalta González, Rodríguez Schettino, Mancina, and Iturriaga, 2014, Smithson. Herpetol. Inform. Serv., 145: 1–48, who provided dot maps and specific localities for all amphibian species found in Cuba.
9 January 2015: Completed the first pass through Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 1–472, which provides accounts, range maps, and photographs of all salamander species on the planet. This required that I add hundreds of comments in the relevant taxon accounts. The volume provides a substantial literature review, picking up much that I had so far missed. However, it is not always clear how taxonomic conclusions were reached and monophyly, the standard of group formulation in systematics for the last 35 years, is not canonical in this volume so monophyly should not be assumed by the reader with respect to taxon formulation or content in this volume. I found the reading to be difficult (beyond the language barrier for me) because it is not systematics in a scientific sense, but just a naming exercise. Having said that, there are many observations on the literature and of animals in life in the wild and captivity that will be of great interest to anyone interested in salamanders.
7 January 2015: Completed inserting comments and modifying range statements of Bolitoglossa equatoriana, Bolitoglossa peruviana, and Bolitoglossa paraensis (Plethodontidae) exteding from the paper by Elmer, Bonett, Wake, and Lougheed, 2013, BMC Evol. Biol., 13(59): 1–16, who discussed the biogeography and phylogeny of South American salamanders with the documentation of up to nine unnamed species.
5 January 2015: Added Bolitoglossa tenebrosa (Plethodontidae), a cryptic species segregated from Bolitoglossa meliana, named from the Sierra de las Minas in the Departments of Baja Verapaz and Zacapa, in Guatemala, by Vázquez-Almazán and Rovito, 2014, J. Herpetol., 48: 518–524. Recognition of this species restricts Bolitoglossa meliana to the Sierra de Chuacus in the Departments of Quiche and Baja Verapaz, Guatemala. Given that the type and only known specimen of Bolitoglosa tzultacaj is a subadult female with a regenerated tail, it is not clear how this species, from the same mountain range, can be adequately diagnosed from that species (DRF).
2 January 2015: Added a comment and modified the range statement of Tylototriton vietnamensis (Salamandridae), extending from the study by Bernardes, Rödder, Nguyen, Pham, Nguyen, and Ziegler, 2013, J. Nat. Hist., London, 47: 1161–1175, on the habitat and potential distribution of this species.

2 January 2015: Added a comments and modified the range statement of Ptychadena nana (Ptychadenidae) extending from the report by Böhme and Rödder, 2011, North-West. J. Zool., Romania, 7: 322–324, of an additional specimen from the same mountain range as the holotype (Arussi Mountains) but did not report on when it was collected or by whom which leaves questions about the fate of this species given that it has otherwise only been known from the holotype which was collected over 90 years ago. The authors also discussed a possible unnamed species in Bale National Park, Ethiopia.
2 January 2015: Added comments to the relevant records extending from the report on distress calls of Bokermannohyla circumdata and Bokermannohyla nanuzae (Hylidae) by Pereira Silva, Silva, Pirani, and Mângia, 2014, Herpetol. Notes, 7: 521–524.
