 Díaz and Cádiz, 2008, Guía Taxon. Anf. Cuba: 1-294, provided an account as a subspecies of Bufo longinasus. Removed from the synonymy of Peltorphyne longinasus by Hedges, Powell, Henderson, Hanson, and Murphy, 2019, Caribb. Herpetol., 67: 8, where it had been placed by  Barbour, 1937, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 82: 96.
