Rana jiemuxiensis Yan, Jiang, Chen, Fang, Jin, Li, Wang, Murphy, Che, and Zhang, 2011, Asian Herpetol. Res., Ser. 2, 2: 68. Holotype: KIZ 05553, by original designation. Type locality: "Jiemuxi National Nature Reserve (28° 52′ 45″ N, 110° 24′ 608″ E, elevation 723 m), western Hunan, China".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Jiemuxi National Nature Reserve, 723 m elevation), northwestern Hunan, China.
Comment
In the Rana longicrus group, formerly confused with Rana longicrus, according to the original publication. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 308, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China. Shen, 2014, Fauna Hunan, Amph.: 205–207, provided a detailed account for Hunan, China.
