Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Quinshull, Chical, provincia de Carchi, extreme northwestern Ecuador, 921 m elevation); possibly into adjacent Colombia.

Comment

The authors of the original publication noted a possible unnamed species, Oedipina aff. villamizariorum from Padre Santo, Playa de Oro, Esmeraldas, Ecuador.  Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 855, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
