Tylototriton maolanensis Li, Wei, Cheng, Zhang, and Wang, 2020, Asian Herpetol. Res., 11: 286. Holotype: CIBML 20180427001, by original designation. Type locality: "Maolan National Nature Reserve (25.307194° N, 107.948764° E, ca. 737 m a.s.l.) in Libo County, Guizhou Province, China".

Known only from the type locality (Maolan National Nature Reserve, ca. 737 m elevation, Libo County, Guizhou Province, China.

Comment

Most closely related to Tylototriton dabienicus, Tylototriton anhuiensis and Tylototriton broadoridgus, and previously confused with Tylototriton asperrimus according to the original publication. In the Tylototriton (Yaotritonwenxianensis species group of Poyarkov, Nguyen, and Arkhipov, 2021, Taprobanica, 10: 4–22, who discussed phylogenetics. In the Tylototriton asperrimus group of Lyu, Wang, Zeng, Zhou, Qi, Wan, Li, and Wang, 2021, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 71: 697–710, who discussed phylogenetics. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 291–292, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
