Arthroleptis palava Blackburn, Gvoždík, and Leaché, 2010, Herpetologica, 66: 341. Holotype: MCZ A-139528, by original designation. Type locality: "Federal Republic of Nigeria, Taraba State, Mambilla Plateau, Ngel Nyaki Forest Reserve, Nigerian Montane Forest Project Field Station, 7.08611 11.06664 (WGS84), ca. 1590 m".

Distribution

Bamenda Highlands in Cameroon and the Obudu and Mabilla Plateaus of eastern Nigeria, 1000–2120 m elevation; Mount Gangirwal in the Gotel Mountains, Cameroon–Nigeria border, 1890 m elevation, and from the Tchabal Mbabo, 2060 m elevation, Cameroon.

Comment

Although similar to Arthroleptis poecilonotus, on the basis of molecular evidence the species is demonstrated in the original publication.to be in the Arthroleptis variabilis complex. Dolinay, Tasse Taboue, Fokam, and Gvoždík, 3018, Herpetol. Notes, 11: 557–560, reported the species from Mount Gangirwal in the Gotel Mountains, Cameroon–Nigeria border, 1890 m elevation, and from the Tchabal Mbabo, 2060 m elevation, Cameroon, and added an elevational extension on the Bambenda Highlands of Cameroon. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 262–263, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
