Cardioglossa trifasciata Amiet, 1972, Biol. Gabonica, 8: 204. Holotype: MHNG 1253.88 (formerly JLA 70.599) according to Amiet, 1985, in Frost (ed.), Amph. Species World: 17; and Schätti, Perret, and Mariaux, 2002, Cat. Comm. Types Amph. Rept. Mus. Hist. Nat. Geneve, Vers. 4.0 (Jan. 2002): 7. Type locality: "Nsoung, 1750-1800 m", Cameroon.
Astylosternus trifasciatus — Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 222, by implication. See comment under Cardioglossa.

Southern slope of Mount Manengouba, in afro-montane forest, 1750–1800 m elevation, Cameroon.

Closely related to Cardioglossa pulchra and Cardioglossa venusta according to Amiet, 1985, in Frost (ed.), Amph. Species World: 18.
