Eleutherodactylus tabasarae Savage, Hollingsworth, Lips, and Jaslow, 2004, Herpetologica, 60: 521. Holotype: UMMZ 167648, by original designation. Type locality: "9.7 km NNW El Copé, on the continental divide at sawmill La Pintada District, Coclé Province, Panama, 600-800 m (8° 40′ 04″ N, 80° 35′ 6″ W)".

Distribution
Isolated records in Veraguas Province (Distrito de Santa Fé), Coclé Province in the Serrania de Tabasará (600-800 m elevation), Colón Province (near Cerro Bruja in Parque Nacional G.D. Omar Torrijos H.) and Panamá Province (the Serrania Piedras-Pacora in the Parque Nacional Chagres) in east-central Panama (730–910 m elevation) .

In the Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri group, Eleutherodctylus melanostictus subgroup, according to the original publication. In the Craugastor fitzingeri species series, Craugastor fitzingeri species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 37, and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 122. Rev., 41: 506–507, provided the record for Veraguas Province and commented on the range. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 140–191, provided a key to the genera and species of Brachycephaloidea (= Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae) in Central America and provided maps and photographs of the species, including this one.
