Zúñiga’s Dirt Frog (original publication).
Distribution
Southwestern Costa Rica, on the Pacific slopes of Cordillera de Talamanca, so far known from Santa María de Pittier, Tres Colinas, Las Alturas de Cotón, and road to Las Tablas (very near the Panama border into which it likely extends), 1500–2100 m elevation.

In the Craugastor podiciferus group, previously confused with Craugastor podiciferus, according to the original publication. In the Craugastor podiciferus group, Craugastor podiciferus clade of Arias, Crawford, Hertz, and Parra-Olea, 2025, PeerJ, 13(e18212): 1–33, who reported on the molecular phylogenetics of the species group and provided a dot map of the distribution.
