Comment
The generic assignment of this species was controversial, given the mtDNA tree, according to the original publication. Reyes-Puig, Guayasamin, Koch, Brito-Zapata, Hollanders, Costales, and Cisneros-Heredia, 2021, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 16: 74–82, provided new localities and discussed osteology and molecular phylogenetics. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 34–36, provided an account, with photographs, summarizing morphological identification, natural history, distribution, conservation, and also (p. 455) described the advertisement call.
