Pristimantis altamnis Elmer and Cannatella, 2008, Zootaxa, 1784: 15. Holotype: QCAZ25311, by original designation. Type locality: "Cando community, upper Napo river, parroquía Talag, Napo province, Ecuador (S 01° 05.71′, W 77° 55.47′, altitude 680 m)".

Distribution

Amazonian lowlands and adjacent lower slopes of the Cordillera Oriental in Sucumbíos, Orellana, Napo, and Pastaza provinces, Ecuador, 329 to 962 m elevation.

Comment

Confused with Pristimantis ockendeni prior to its naming Not assignable to species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. Brito-M., Batallas-Revelo, and Yánez-Muñoz, 2017, Neotropical Biodiversity, 3: 125–156. provided a record from Morona Santiago, Ecuador and brief natural history notes. Included in the Pristimantis luscombei clade of the Pristimantis unistrigatus group as delimited by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, on molecular grounds (mtDNA and nuDNA genes). Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 56–57, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
