Comment

Most similar to Eleutherodactylus boulengeri and Eleutherodactylus calcarulatus according to the original publication; in the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus assembly of the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group by implication. Heyer and Hardy, 1991, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 104: 444, disputed the taxonomic assignment to the Eleutherodactylus lacrimosus assembly. See account by Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 70-71. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 220. In the Pristimantis lacrimosus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 123, and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 126. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 67–68, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution, and conservation.
