Pristimantis bambu Arteaga-Navarro and Guayasamin, 2011, Zootaxa, 2876: 19. Holotype: QCAZ 46740, by original designation. Type locality: "La Libertad, Reserva Mazar (02.54804 S, 78.69741 W; 2976 m.a.s.l.), Cantón Azogues, Provincia Cañar, Ecuador; airline distance from Rivera is 6.6 km".

Cutín de Bambú (Spanish: Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: xxxiii).

Distribution

Known only from the Cordillera Oriental of southeastern Ecuador (Provincia Cañar) in the vicinity of the type locality, at elevations of 2588–3528 m.

Comment

In the Pristimantis orestes group, close to Pristimantis simonbolivari and an unnamed species, according to the original publication. Not assignable to species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 79–81, provided an account, with photographs, summarizing morphological identification, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), conservation, and also (p. 459) described the advertisement call.
