Distribution

Endemic to the foothill forests of southwestern Ecuador  south of the Río Jubones, 307 to 2593 m elevation.

Comment

In the Pristimantis unistrigatus group and most closely related to Pristimantis walkeri according to the original publication. Included in the Pristimantis cajamarcensis clade of the Pristimantis unistrigatus group as delimited by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, on molecular grounds (mtDNA and nuDNA genes). Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 92–93, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
