Distribution

Paramo, Inter-Andean Shrub, Western and Eastern Montane Forest in the Andes of Azuay and Cañar Provinces in Ecuador, between 2684–4100 m elevation.

Comment

In the Pristimantis (Huicundomantis) phoxocephalus species group, previously confused with Pristimantis riveti, according to Páez and Ron, 2019, ZooKeys, 868: 27. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 232–234, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
