Pristimantis muranunka Brito-M., Almendáriz C., Batallas-Revelo, and Ron, 2017, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 57: 181. Holotype: MEPN 14721, by original designation. Type locality: "Cerro Plateado (04°34’43.89”S; 78°47’24.75”O, 2.300 m), parroquia Nuevo Paraíso, cantón Nangaritza, provincia de Zamora Chinchipe, República del Ecuador".

Cutín de Muranunka (Spanish: Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: xxxv).

Distribution

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (Cerro Plateado, Provincia de Zamora-Chinchipe, Ecuador), 2045 to 2393 m elevation, in the Sierra del Condor.

Comment

In the Pristimantis orestes group according to the original publlcation. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 260–261, provided an account, with photographs, summarizing morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), conservation, and also (p. 475) described the advertisement call.
