Distribution

known from three disjunct localities in southern Ecuador, 2523 to 3116 m elevation: (1) Cajanuma sector of Parque Nacional Podocarpus and its immediate surrounding areas outside the park; (2) ca. 33 km to the south (straight line) in Reserva Numbala, and (3) ca. 54 km further south, in Parque Nacional Yacuri. Possibly occurring in adjacent areas of northern Peru.

Comment

In the subgenus Huicundomantis, Pristimantis phoxocephalus group, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, phylogenetics, advertisement call, natural history, and distribution were detailed.
