Comment

In the Pristimantis (Huicundomantis) phoxocephalus species group according to Páez and Ron, 2019, ZooKeys, 868: 27, who (p. 78) noted that it had been confused previously with Pristimantis phoxocephalusColoma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 390–392, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
