Distribution

Known in southern Ecuador from the wetland complex of Oña, Nabón, Saraguro and Yacuambi, which spreads over three provinces, Loja, Azuay and Zamora-Chinchipe; this area has an altitudinal range between 3096 and 3307 m elevation and consists of herb páramo (montane grasslands and shrublands) and a wetland complex of almost 100 glacial lakes.

In the Pristimantis orestes group according to the original publication. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 395–397, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
