Distribution

Known from three localities: two closely situated, one inside Parque Nacional Podocarpus and a second one in Reserva Tapichalaca; and a third locality, at ∼45 km to the south-east in straight line, on the mountains bordering Río Sangola, at ∼30 km north-east of the village of Chito, all in the Province of Zamora Chinchipe, Ecuador, 2422 to 2895 m elevation; expected in adjacent Peru.

In the subgenus Huicundomantis, Pristimantis phoxocephalus group, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, phylogenetics, advertisement call, natural history, and distribution were detailed.
