Distribution
Known from two localities on the western slopes of the Cordillera de Huancabamba: Laguna Negra trail and Bosque de Ramos, which are 28.8 km (airline) apart, at 2949 and 3000 m, Ayabaca Province, Piura Region, Peru.

Most similar to Pristimantis morlaco according to the original publication, where comparative morphology and molecular markers were detailed.
