Cordillera Occidental of Pichincha, Cotopaxi, and Bolívar provinces, Ecuador, between 1884 and 3723 m elevation.

Comment
Similar to Pristimantis atratus according to the original publication. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 128. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 440–441, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
