Phrynopus guillei De la Riva, 2007, Herpetol. Monogr., 21: 258. Holotype: AMNH 165108, by original designation. Type locality: "ca. 4 km E of Chullina, Cantón Carazani, Provincia Saavedra, Departamento de La Paz, Bolivia, 15° 10′ 17″ S, 68° 53′ 10″ W, 3590 m".

Known only from the type locality on the top of the mountain range that separates the valleys of the Río Charazani and Río Quillhuacota on the Amazonian slopes of the Cordillera de Apolobamba, Provincia Saavedra, Departamento La Paz, Bolivia, 3590 m elevation).
