Distribution

Known from several localities within the Río Manduriacu Reserve and the Los Cedros Biological Reserve, Cantón Cotacachi, Imbabura province, Ecuador, at elevations between 1184 and 1701 m.

Comment

The generic assignment of this species is controversial, given the mtDNA tree, according to the original publication. Reyes-Puig, Guayasamin, Koch, Brito-Zapata, Hollanders, Costales, and Cisneros-Heredia, 2021, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 16: 74–82, provided new localities and discussed osteology and molecular phylogenetics.
