Phrynopus auriculatus Duellman and Hedges, 2008, Zootaxa, 1675: 60. Holotype: KU 291633, by original designation. Type locality: "2.9 km N, 5.5 km E (airline) Oxapampa, 2600 m, 10° 32′ 38″ S, 75° 21′ 10″ W, Departamento Pasco, Peru".
