Phrynopus paucari Lehr, Lundberg, and Aguilar, 2005, Copeia, 2005: 483. Holotype: MUSM 20657, by original designation. Type locality: "Peru, Departamento de Pasco, Provincia de Pasco, Distrito de Paucartambo, approximately 8 km (airline) SW of the village Paucartambo, at Bellavista. . . , 3600 m elevation".
