Pristimantis altamnis Elmer and Cannatella, 2008, Zootaxa, 1784: 15. Holotype: QCAZ25311, by original designation. Type locality: "Cando community, upper Napo river, parroquía Talag, Napo province, Ecuador (S 01° 05.71′, W 77° 55.47′, altitude 680 m)".

Distribution

Throughout the Pacific humid upland tropical forests of Ecuador, 400–1150 m elevation, possibly into adjacent Colombia and Peru.

Confused with Pristimantis ockendeni prior to its naming Not assignable to species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. Brito-M., Batallas-Revelo, and Yánez-Muñoz, 2017, Neotropical Biodiversity, 3: 125–156. provided a record from Morona Santiago, Ecuador and brief natural history notes. Included in the Pristimantis luscombei clade of the Pristimantis unistrigatus group as delimited by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, on molecular grounds (mtDNA and nuDNA genes).
