Eleutherodactylus auricarens Myers and Donnelly, 2008, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 308: 45. Holotype: EBRG 2725, by original designation. Type locality: "summit of Auyantepui at 5° 54′ N, 62° 29′ W (AMNH--Terramar Camp 2), 1750 m, Bolívar, Venezuela".

Known only from the type locality (summit of Auyantepui, Bolívar, Venezuela, elevation 1600 m).

Comment
In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to the original publication; therefore in Pristimantis (DRF). Not assignable to species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 92–93, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 113, for comments on range and literature. Unassigned to species group by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, due to a lack of molecular data.
