Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (Santa Cecilia, municipality of Pueblo Rico) on the western slope of the Cordillera Occidental, 1000 to 1350 m elevation, Risaralda, Colombia.

Of uncertain relationship, possibly in the Pristimantis ridens group according to the original publication, where comparative morphology was detailed.
