Distribution
Known only from the type locality in the Machay Reserve, Rio Verde Parish, Baños township, Tungurahua Province, Republic of Ecuador, 2940 m elevation in cloud forest.

Comparative morphology detailed in the original publication; not assigned to species group. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 3: 93–95, provided an account with photographs which summarized morphological identification, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation. In the Pristimantis prolatus species group of Loza-Carvajal, Yánez-Muñoz, Quilumbaquin, and Ortega-Andrade, 2025, PeerJ, 13(e20512): 6.
