Pristimantis cedros Hutter and Guayasamin, 2015, Neotropical Biodiversity, 1: 46. Holotype: MZUTI 1713, by original designation. Type locality: " Reserva Los Cedros (0.31943°N, 78.785°W, 1880 m), Provincia de Imbabura, Ecuador".  Zoobank registration number = act:3A09AF93-EB72-4118-87EC-408BCAB5E7F2

Previously confused with Pristimantis calcarulatus according to the original publication. Proaño, Proaño-Morales, and Guayasamin, 2022, Ecosistemas, 31 (2: 2137): 1–9, reported a collection from the Sierra de Toisán, Imbabura, Ecuador, and provided a new maximum elevation record.
