Type localities: "Cachabé [= Cachabí], a small village [about 10 miles southeast of Concepción] on the river of that name, on the N.W. Coast, in the Prov. Esmeraldas", Ecuador, and "Chimbo", also noted in the original publication as "Puente del Chimbo, the railway terminus about 70 miles from Guayaquil, at an elevation of about 1000 feet", Ecuador. Lynch and Myers, 1983, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 175: 515, discussed Cachabé and noted that it is not the same as San Javier de Cachabí. Synonymy by Lynch, 1980, Herpetologica, 36: 179.
