Pristimantis coronatus Lehr and Duellman, 2007, Salamandra, 43: 166. Holotype: MUSM 24508, by original designation. Type locality: "Campamento Nueva York, Río Blanco (79° 22′ 32.″ S, 04° 54′ 28.2″ W), 2850 m a.s.l., Distrito de Carmen de la Frontera, Provincia de Huancabamba, Departamento de Piura, Peru".

Known only from the type locality (Distrito de Carmen de la Frontera, Provincia de Huancabamba, Departamento de Piura, Peru) at 2850 m in montane cloud foret.

Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127.
