Distribution

Lowland Amazonian rainforests of Ecuador and adjacent Colombia but penetrating into low cloud forest at the base of the Pastaza trench; eastern Amazonian Peru and possibly into Acre, Brazil.

Included in the Pristimantis marmoratus clade of the Pristimantis unistrigatus group as delimited by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, on molecular grounds (2 mtDNA genes and 2 nuDNA genes) and suggested that it is a complex of at least 4 lineages.
