Hylodes whymperi Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 218. Types: BMNH 1882.7.13.3–5 (now BMNH 1947.2.17.22–24) by museum records; BMNH 1947.2.17.22 (a reregisterd number) designated lectotype by Lynch, 1981, Misc. Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 72: 7. Type localities: "Tortorillas, Chimboraza [Province] (13,200 feet)", and "Cotocachi (13,000 feet)", Imbaburas Province, Ecuador; restricted to Tortorillas by lectotype designation. (Boulenger, 1882, Ann. Mag. Nat. Synonymy by Lynch, 1981, Misc. Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 72: 7. See more complete description in Boulenger, 1882, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 5, 9: 457–467.
