Distribution

Elevations of 500–1700 m in the Kosñipata Valley on the lower eastern Andean slopes in southern Peru; an apparently unnamed but related lineage found in the Valle de Zongo, Departamento La Paz, Bolivia.

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus series, unassigned to species group by Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 223. Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 115–117, provided a brief account (but confounded Pristimantis danae with Pristimantis reichlei). In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) peruvianus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 126; this reformulated as the Pristimantis danae species group by Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 125. Padial and De la Riva, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 155: 111, provided a distribuation map and named Pristimantis reichlei, which was previously confused with Pristimantis danae.
