Distribution

Southern mountains of the Pastaza drainage, Tungurahua Province, Ecuador; three localities are located on the Tungurahua Volcano, whereas the others correspond to nearby protected areas (Chamana Reserve and Cerro Candelaria Reserve, Finca Palmonte and Bosque Protector Hacienda Guamag), all at elevations of 2950–3800 m.

In the Pristimantis gladiator complex of the Pristimantis (Trachyphrynus) myersi group, according to the original publication, where molecular markers, skull morphology, comparative external morphology, and advertisement call were detailed.
