Type locality: "Guaiquinima Tepui, Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, 5° 44′ N 63° 38′ W, 980 m a.s.l., 'Camp 4' . . . . near the great waterfall".

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 115–116, for comments on range and literature. Unassigned to species group by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol.
