Distribution

In the Province of Azuay, Ecuador within the drainages of the Paute and Jubones rivers, between 2219 and 2979 m elevation.

Previously confused with Pristimantis phoxocephalus according to the original publcation, where comparative morphology, advertisement call, and molecular markers were detailed.
