Moderate elevations (500–2000 m) along the western flank of the Cordillera Occidental of Colombia from Paramillo (Antioquía) to northern Valle del Cauca, and on Cerro Murrucucú, Córdoba.

Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 227, included this species in his Eleutherodactylus cerasinus series, Eleutherodactylus cerasinus group. In the Pristimantis (Hypodictyon) rubicundus group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 116, and in the Pristimantis ridens species group of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 126.
