Montane forest and paramo in the vicinity of El Chamizo (3264 m elevation), Provincia Carchi, and Nueva América (3420 m elevation), Provincia Imbabura, in the Cordillera Oriental of northern Ecuador; likely in adjacent Colombia.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus orcesi group according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) orcesi species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 125. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 128.
