Distribution

Cloud forests surrounding Páramo El Tambor, at the southwestern edge of the Sierra de la Culata of the Cordillera de Mérida, Estado de Mérida, Venezuela, ca. 2316 m elevation.

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus series, unassigned to species group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 230. In the subgenus Pristimantis, but unnassigned to species group by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 118.
