Known only from the environs of the type locality in the Cordillera del Oeste, Mesenia-Paramillo Nature Reserve, about 1.5 km south of the field station at 2800 m elevation, 14 km southwest of the municipality of Jardín, vereda La Mesenia, municipality of Andes, Department of Antioquia, Colombia.

Comment
The sister taxon of Pristimantis satagius and in the Pristimantis ridens group according to the original publication where comparative morphology and molecular markers were detailed.
