Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 128. Arriaga-Jaramillo, Cuellar-Valencia, García-Gómez, Ceballaos-Castro, Bolívar-García, Velásquez-Trujillo, Ortiz-Baez, and Ospina-Sarria, 2023, Stud. Neotrop. Fauna Environ., 58: 275–282, reported on the advertisement call in the Cerro El Inglés Nature Reserve. Provisionally included in the Pristimantis unistrigatus clade of the Pristimantis unistrigatus group as delimited by Mônico, Koch, Ferrão, Fernandes, Marques, Chaparro, Rodrigues, Lima, and Fouquet, 2024, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 108203: 1–19, on the basis of morphological similarity.
