Eleutherodactylus ptochus Lynch, 1998, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 22: 138. Holotype: ICN 39780, by original designation. Type locality: "COLOMBIA, Departamento de Valle del Cauca, Municipio El Cairo, vereda Las Amarillas, El Boquerón (límite con Depto. Choco), 2100-2200 m."

Arriaga-Jaramillo, Cuellar-Valencia, García-Gómez, Ceballaos-Castro, Bolívar-García, Velásquez-Trujillo, Ortiz-Baez, and Ospina-Sarria, 2023, Stud. Neotrop. Fauna Environ., 58: 275–282, reported on the advertisement call in the Cerro El Inglés Nature Reserve.
